Renkyl

The renkyl are a race of dwarves in the world of Liravythn. They are native to the towering Thundull Mountains that span the entire Syntallis continent. Their patron deity is Edmar, the God of Earth, and they can use earth magic thanks to his Blessing.

The renkyl have a tan complexion if they live on the surface, and a darker complexion if they live underground. In addition any renkyl born underground develop night vision as they age. Hair plays a major role in renkyl culture, for it's length and thickness are seen as symbols of wisdom and respect. This goes triply so for the glorious beards of the men, and the intricate braided hair of the women. Finally, every renkyl has dark mud brown eyes.

Their society is built off a caste system, with there being ten in total. Each caste is themed and stylized after a particular kind of gemstone or metal, and each specializes of a different part of society. Technically, not every dwarf is a part of a caste, but polite society doesn’t talk about them, or even acknowledge their existence so it seems inappropriate to talk about them here.

When it comes to their magic, a renkyl's natural hair color is determined by the strength of their Blessing. A Stricken renkyl has white hair, while a Lowborn has grey hair, Adepts have red hair, Highborns have black hair and Touched have brown hair. The shades of these colors varies from person to person, but every shade falls within the given spectrum.

On average the height of a grown renkyl man is four feet six inches tall and the average height for a grown renkyl woman is four feet one inch tall. Their average lifespan is one hundred and twelve years, but some of the oldest renkyl to ever live were well over two hundred when they died.
