Bainson

The bainson are a race of reptilian humanoids in the world of Liravythn. They are native to the Renolyde Desert which covers the entire Wystallis continent. Their patron deity is Margol, God of Darkness, and they can use darkness magic thanks to his Blessing.

Bainson possess an innate ability to shift between an animal and humanoid form. Which reptile they can transform into is dependent on what clan they are born into. In general, the clans are named based on what type of reptile those born into it take after.

The specifics of their appearance, such as the color of their scales, is dependent on the reptile they can morph into. When in their animal form, they are indistinguishable from an actual reptile. While in their humanoid form, they retain the majority of their animal traits, such as their scales, claws, and tails, but take on the body of a human.

The ability to morph between their animal and humanoid forms is independent of their Blessing, meaning that this is something every bainson can do even if they are born Stricken.

In regards to their magic, the strength of a bainson's Blessing can be determined by their eye color. Every Bainson born as a Stricken has green eyes, while Lowborn have blue eyes, every Adept has purple eyes, every Highborn has brown eyes and every Touched has black eyes. The shades of these colors varies from person to person, but every shade falls within the given spectrum.

On average the height of a grown bainson man is five feet eight inches tall and the average height for a grown Bainson woman is five feet two inches tall. Other aspects of their appearance, such as the color of their scales, is dependent on the type of animal they can morph into. Their average lifespan is one-hundred thirty-four years, but some of the oldest bainson on record lived into their one-hundred and nineties.
