The Nomadic Tribes of Standrix

In Standrix the tira live in one, large, centralized community that spans the entire aerial continent. Elsewhere tira colonize areas with trees and dense foliage. They live as birds in the woods and humanoids in cities. Each colony away from Standrix is autonomous. Familial hierarchies determine how each colony is ran. When multiple Colonies interact, the Chief, Songstress and one Elder from each Colony act as representatives for their Colony.

Elder: Oldest members of the community. While all are respected, Elders that held prominent societal positions can act as advisors for the Chief. While these Elders can make decisions the Chief has to abide by, they cannot make decisions and contradict decisions made by the Chief.

Chief: Leader of a Colony. While they must abide by decisions made by Elders, they have the final say in all other scenarios. A Chief serves for life and can name their heir. However, if the line succession should fall into question, the Elders will resolve the issue, typically by promoting either the most decorated Tempered or male Wisened in the Colony.

Wisened: Educated tira that act as advisors for the Chief. In most cases the Wisened have spent the majority of their life living amongst various societies to learn as much as possible. While they hold no authority issue decrees others in the Colony must follow, they hold the most  influence with the Chief, except for the Elders in some cases. Each Chief determines how many Wisened advise them, but there is always at least one. Wisened can be male or female.

Tempered: The tira warrior class. While tira males can choose the path they take, each is required to spend their formative years training so that they may defend their Colony should the need arise. For those who choose the Tempered path their potential roles are numerous and range from guard duty to protecting the Chief. Tira women can also pursue the warrior path, though they are not required to undergo the same training young tira males are.

Vagrant: A tira warrior who left their Colony to serve under a foreign contingent, be it a mercenary group, a guild or a standing military. While the Colony will respect the value of their valor and experience, they will be seen as lesser warriors in the eyes of most Chiefs.

Gilded: Merchants, craftsmen, tradesmen and artisans and produce and peddle goods and services for coin. This term only applies to business owners and contractors so skilled at their craft that they can dictate the terms of the contracts they accept. Standard workers and tradesmen are simply part of the regular working class. Gilded can be male or female.

Sky Song: Tira religion. While tira females can choose the path they take, each is required to spend their formative years learning the song so that she can pass tira history onto the next generation. Tira males can also choose to learn the song, though they are not required to undergo the same training as young tira women are.

Songstress: Leader of the Sky Song faith in each Colony. Only a tira woman can be a Songstress of the Sky Song. Although she cannot make executive decisions like the Chief, the Songstress is widely seen to having authority equal to the Chief.

Lyrist: Singers chosen by the Songstress to assist her with overseeing the operation of the Sky Song faith.

Singer: Officers that carry out the day-to-day task required to maintain the Sky Song faith.
